Women’s History Month – Team Member Spotlight

March 21, 2023

 – Women’s History Month commemorates and encourages the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.  This gives us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women in our own organization. Harriet Beacher Stowe, renowned American author said it best when she stated that women are the real architects of society.   In the month of March, we celebrate all of the women who provide structure and are the foundation of Senior Alternatives, a woman owned business.  On this article in particular, we want to highlight a team member who’s contribution to our organization is vital and essential.

It is our pleasure to introduce Yvonne Cherry, Director of Home Care. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Yvonne came to the Bay Area 28 years ago. She has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. A total optimist, a glass half full type of a person starts her day by opening her heart to the first client or caregiver who calls.  She is happiest when she hears our client’s testimonials describing how appreciative they are of the level of care our caregivers provide. She ensures our clients are well taken care of and that their needs are met and ensures our caregivers are valued, respected and appreciated. Balancing the supervisory tasks with the friendship piece is a no easy feat, but Yvonne does a fine job In handling these and other aspects of the job.  She has demonstrated through her years with Senior Alternatives that she is an incredible role model for our caregivers. She provides leadership, influence, support and validation and ensures that caregiver’s voices are heard.  The words ‘human kindness’ embody what Yvonne represents.  In our search for a team member for this role, we needed someone with extreme empathy and a big heart, we were able to find these and other qualities in Yvonne.  When Yvonne is not at work, she enjoys live concerts, comedy shows and watching documentaries.

Thanks Yvonne for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to your role.  The support you provide to our workforce is incomparable and we could not function without you.  Thank you for a decade of service to our organization, we celebrate you!
